I want to commend Jacob for the job he did on our Fossil Crawl (expedition). Everyone at the caverns was so nice, from the gift shop to the guides. My husband so wanted to do one of the guided tours “behind the scenes” so to speak. The day had arrived and we met Jacob, he took us to get our knee pads, helmet and gloves, then we were off. The first crawl we did was probably the hardest and my husband began thinking he had made a mistake, but Jacob said he could tailor the adventure to meet his needs and it all would not be like the first crawl. Jacob seemed to be in sync with my husband, seemed to know just when he might need a rest. Jacob frequently gave us options as to crawl, climb or whatever. At the end of the tour, my husband seemed to have new confidence in himself and finished strong.
The entire experience was perfect. That young man explained that he had been with Raccoon Mountain Caverns for approximately 4 months -- which I find shocking (as) his knowledge of the cave led me to believe he had far more than that. I can not do justice in thanking him and Raccoon Mountain. The Fossil Crawl was certainly the highlight of our trip.
Thank you everyone at the caverns that made our trip a success. Please see to it that Jacob gets a big “atta” boy from us and his superiors. They must know what a wonderful employee (he is) and they were wise enough to hire him. (October 2009)
(Manager’s Comment: Jacob received his “atta” boy. While Jacob may have only been with us for a few months, he has a passion for caving and completed our extensive guide training program in near record time. All wild cave guides go through a training and certification program so that our guests are provided with highly skilled and competent guides with extensive knowledge of our cave system.)
